A media circus ensues, crystallizing local opinion against Deeva and her family. To further complicate matters, the dead boy’s family threatens retribution against her brother in remand and so running out of time Deeva teams up with attractive ex-gang member, turned youth worker, CLINT O’CONNOR, to help her prove her brother’s innocence and save his life.
As she attempts to uncover the truth, she comes up against powerful and unexpected adversaries, including the corrupt and powerful DCI STONE, who has a personal and political agenda in seeing Vipon convicted of the crime. When events escalate and Deeva begins to learn about what is really going on in this town from her brother and gang leader TONY, the stakes get higher. Stone becomes increasingly desperate to protect his dirty, lucrative secrets and Deeva soon learns that those closest to her are working to their own agenda. She is left not knowing where to turn or who to trust.
A seemingly unrelated hit and run provides the key that unlocks horrific secrets about Stone and his dirty dealings with politicians and bent planning committees. When Deeva learns the shocking truth about the shooting from her cousin RICKY, she is now in a race to save herself as well as her family. With nowhere to turn, Deeva takes the story to a local journalist who can blow open the whole corruption scandal, as well as bring down Stone and his entire operation.
Facing exposure, her adversaries descend upon her and Deeva is kidnapped by Tony, resulting in a terrifying climax on a roof above the city, where the truth is finally revealed. Deeva discovers that in a town full of secrets, no one is safe from the vicious power struggle, played out in the back streets of Southwood Park all the way to the top.
